Dhammikarama Burmese Temple

A golden burmese temple featuring intricate statues and a prominent lion statue at the entrance - Lexis Suites Penang

The Dhammikarama Burmese Temple is the only Burmese Buddha temple located outside Burma. This serene temple that was built in 1805 also houses a Bodhi tree and a wishing pond.

Walking around the temple, you will also get to see a series of panels with beautiful murals depicting moving scenes from the journey of Prince Siddharta achieving Nirvana and becoming Buddha.

This temple is also known as the first buddhist temple in Penang. It is extremely busy during Wesak Day and Thingyan (Water Festival) in April. Visitors must not forget to remove their shoes before entering the temple as a sign of respect.

Book your stay at Lexis Suites Penang today for a chance to visit this magnificent cultural monument. Lexis Suites Penang is also the only all-suite hotel on the island that comes with a private pool and steam room in every suite.
