Bon Odori Festival
On the recent 20th July, Lexis Suites Penang merrily took part in Penang's annual Bon Odori Festival at Queensbay Mall (Outdoor Carpark). This much anticipated traditional festival is a Japanese Buddhist observance that honours the spirit of their ancestors, who is said to return once a year to visit their loved ones. It is celebrated in a cracking atmosphere with around 101 stalls from local eateries, restaurants and hotels coming together to setup a special bazaar for the occasion, selling a variety of Japanese and local delights.
Other attractions that have guests swarming to the festival include live performances of traditional and contemporary Japanese dances, lucky draws, photo booths, and an amazing pyrotechnics of firework display. To make the day even better, Lexis Suites Penang was also chosen as the 1st runner up for the ‘Best Decorated Stall’, and we get to bring home a trophy and RM500 in cash.
The General Manager of Lexis Suites Penang, Mr. Ben Ho and the team received the prizes from YB Yeoh Soon Hin, EXCO of Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH), and Ms. Machiko Kanoya, wife of Japanese Consul General of Penang, Kanoya San. Well done and congratulations to the Lexis Suites Penang team!
